Ford recalls over 50,000 SUVs for camera issues
Ford is recalling over 50,000 SUVs due to problems with their back-up cameras. This affects several models including the Ford Edge, Explorer, Lincoln Aviator, and Lincoln Corsair. The recall was announced after the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) found that some vehicles had been repaired incorrectly in previous recalls. More than 2,200 Ford Edges need to be fixed again after a 2022 recall. Meanwhile, nearly 49,400 Explorers, Aviators, and Corsairs require further repairs after a 2023 recall. For the Ford Edge models from 2021-2022, a software error may cause the rearview camera to show a blank or distorted image while reversing. This issue can increase the risk of accidents, as drivers may not see obstacles behind them. The Explorers, Lincoln Aviators, and Corsairs from 2020-2023 have a problem with the 360-degree camera. They may show a blue or black image when reversing. This issue also raises safety concerns. Owners of the affected SUVs should take their vehicles to a dealer for a free software update. Notifications will be sent in the mail starting April 24. For more assistance, Ford's customer service can help at 1-866-436-7332.
