FORE webinar highlights Medicaid's role in opioid crisis
The Foundation for Opioid Response Efforts (FORE) is hosting a webinar about Medicaid's vital role in addressing the opioid crisis in the U.S. The event will take place on March 26, 2025, at 2:00 PM ET. Medicaid is a significant provider of treatment for opioid use disorder (OUD). It covers about 40% of adults under 65 with OUD. The program also supports peer recovery coaches and other initiatives aimed at prevention and treatment. Recent discussions about Medicaid policies could affect access to crucial OUD treatment and services. These changes come after a nearly 25% drop in overdose fatalities over the past year, partly due to Medicaid-funded programs. The webinar will feature experts discussing how Medicaid can help reduce overdose deaths and improve treatment and recovery efforts. Speakers include Jocelyn Guyer, Bradley Stein, Gabrielle de la Guéronnière, and Katie Greene, who represent various organizations involved in opioid policy and health. The event is free and open to the public, encouraging wide participation.
