Former Blizzard head accuses Marvel Rivals of copying Overwatch 2

Mike Ybarra, former head of Blizzard, has accused Marvel Rivals of copying Overwatch 2. He highlighted similarities between Marvel's Black Widow and Overwatch's Widowmaker, despite Black Widow's long history in comics and film. Critics have noted that both games share gameplay elements. Marvel Rivals, launched in December by NetEase, features a roster of 33 characters, including popular Marvel heroes. The game sold 10 million copies within 72 hours and is free to play, similar to Overwatch 2, which has surpassed 100 million players since its release. Both games are set to introduce new content soon. Marvel Rivals will launch its first season in January 2025, while Overwatch 2 has just started its 14th season, adding a new character named Hazard.
