Former Delhi University professor G N Saibaba dies at 57 after surgery complications

Former Delhi University professor G N Saibaba died at age 57 due to post-operative complications after gallbladder surgery. He was receiving treatment at Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences in Hyderabad and suffered a heart attack shortly before his death. Saibaba was acquitted of charges related to alleged Maoist links by the Bombay High Court in March 2024, after being sentenced to life imprisonment in 2017. He had been in jail since his arrest in May 2014. He worked as an English professor at Ram Lal Anand College since 2003 but was suspended in 2014 following his arrest. Saibaba was wheelchair-bound due to a disability.
