Former East Boston medical assistant sentenced for assaults
Damien Knighton, a former medical assistant at Massachusetts General Hospital, was sentenced to nine to 12 years in prison for sexually assaulting four patients. He was found guilty of six counts of indecent assault and battery. Knighton, 41, conducted unauthorized genital and rectal exams on patients. His actions came to light after a patient reported the assault in January 2023, leading to additional victims coming forward. In addition to his prison sentence, Knighton will face three years of probation, a lifetime ban from the medical field in Massachusetts, and must register as a sex offender.
