Former education official admits to sending cash to superintendents under VP Duterte's order

A former special disbursing officer of the Department of Education in the Philippines, Edward Fajarda, admitted to sending cash to some superintendents at the direction of Vice President Sara Duterte. This admission came during a House committee hearing on alleged fund misuse. Fajarda confirmed he requested bank account details from superintendents, stating it was to assist them with expenses incurred during fieldwork. He noted that not all superintendents received funds and that the transfers were not regular. The committee is investigating the financial practices of the Office of the Vice President and the Department of Education under Duterte. An affidavit from former Education Undersecretary Gloria Jumamil Mercado supported Fajarda's claims about the inquiries made regarding bank accounts.
