Former Missouri City officer charged with manslaughter in fatal crash involving mother and son

A former Missouri City police officer, Blademir Viveros, has been charged with manslaughter after a crash that killed a mother and son. He was responding to a robbery call while having a man in his patrol car, violating police policy. Viveros is accused of not using emergency lights or sirens and driving at excessive speed before the crash. The man in his car, Michael Hawkins, was not found for hours and is now partially paralyzed. Both the Stewart and Hawkins families have filed lawsuits against the police department. Viveros is currently in jail with an $800,000 bond.
