Former professional sentenced for drug trafficking in UK
A man named Graham Jones, who is 65 years old, has been sentenced to prison for drug trafficking. He had a successful career in construction and had no prior legal issues for over 60 years. However, he began running a drug business involving cocaine and cannabis. Police found more than £20,000 worth of drugs at his home in Birkenhead on October 31, 2023. They seized 16 packages of cocaine and six packages of cannabis, along with nearly £4,000 in cash and several mobile phones. Messages on his phone showed he was actively involved in drug dealing. During the court hearing, it was revealed that Jones used cannabis to manage his epilepsy, which he believes clouded his judgment. His attorney stated that he was not pressured into drug dealing and acknowledged the seriousness of his actions. Family members described him as a caring and honest person, contrary to his recent criminal behavior. Judge Gary Woodhall expressed surprise at Jones's good character and background. He noted the scale of Jones's drug operation and stated that his offenses were serious due to the quantity and purity of the drugs involved. Jones was sentenced to 32 months in prison, and he accepted his punishment as he left the courtroom.
