Former RTÉ correspondent Colm Connolly dies at 80 in Cyprus

Colm Connolly, former Arts and Media Correspondent for RTÉ News, has died in Cyprus at the age of 80. He began his career as a guitarist before transitioning to journalism in the 1960s. Connolly worked with the BBC before joining RTÉ News in the mid-1970s. He was known for covering significant events, including the 1975 kidnapping of Dutch industrialist Tiede Herrema. In addition to his reporting, Connolly produced notable documentaries and authored two novels. His documentary "The Shadow of Bealnablath," about Michael Collins, is particularly well-known.
