Former San Jose State employee indicted for alleged laptop fraud scheme
Tung Pham, a former employee of San Jose State University, has been indicted for allegedly using university funds to buy Apple laptops. He is accused of falsifying invoices and selling the computers for personal gain. Pham, 59, worked as a facilities and purchasing coordinator from February 2017 to March 2020. He reportedly used a university procurement card to purchase at least five MacBook computers, totaling over $6,000. The indictment, unsealed recently, states that Pham transferred signatures from smaller approved purchases to the larger laptop invoices. If convicted, he could face up to five years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
