Fort Worth aquarium closes following animal cruelty allegations
The SeaQuest Aquarium in Fort Worth has closed following allegations of animal cruelty. PETA reported that former employees described overcrowded conditions and poor water quality. The aquarium was also cited for unsanitary conditions by the U.S. Department of Agriculture. The Fort Worth location is no longer listed on SeaQuest's website, and Google marks it as permanently closed. PETA has previously called for investigations into the aquarium's practices and noted closures at other SeaQuest locations in Colorado, Connecticut, and Georgia. SeaQuest CEO Vince Covino announced his resignation in August amid scrutiny over animal treatment. An ABC News investigation found multiple violations at nine SeaQuest locations, including inadequate animal care that led to deaths.
