Four arrested in Ballia for ATM fraud
Police in Ballia, Uttar Pradesh, have arrested four men from an interstate ATM fraud gang. The arrests came after a confrontation with the suspects late on Wednesday night. One suspect was injured during the exchange of gunfire. Officials received a tip-off about suspicious individuals in a car headed towards Pipa Bridge. When police tried to stop the vehicle, the suspects attempted to escape. During the chase, one suspect shot at the police. In response, the police returned fire, injuring one suspect in the leg. The injured man, Bachcha Lal Mahto from Bihar, has been taken to a local hospital. The other arrested suspects are identified as Saheb Kumar Mahto, Madan Mahto, and Lal Babu Mahto, also from Bihar. Police seized several items from the gang, including two pistols, live ammunition, 63 ATM cards, a car, and cash. During questioning, the suspects admitted to targeting people to steal their ATM cards and funds. They confessed to committing similar crimes in Ballia, other parts of Uttar Pradesh, and even Delhi. Police are investigating further to find other members of the gang and their activities across the country.
