Four students selected for prestigious music band
Four students from Fox Chapel Area High School have been chosen to perform with the 2025 Pennsylvania Music Educators Association Region I Band. The selected students are senior Marina Dunham, and juniors Elliott Broyles, Jack Murray-Krezan, and Joshua Shah. They will join 150 top student musicians from 60 different high schools across several counties. The PMEA Region I Band concert took place on March 8 at Ambridge Area High School. It was conducted by retired Colonel Michael J. Colburn, who previously led "The President’s Own" United States Marine Band. On March 25, about 100 educators from across the U.S. will visit the Fox Chapel Area School District. This visit is part of the League of Innovative Schools Spring 2025 Convening. Attendees will tour Kerr Elementary, Dorseyville Middle School, and Fox Chapel Area High School to learn about the district’s commitment to a well-rounded education. The day's events will include Fox Fest, showcasing various programs and initiatives, along with a Unified Bocce game. Other participating school districts in the convening include Avonworth, Baldwin-Whitehall, and Shaler Area, among others. Additionally, seven seniors at Fox Chapel Area High School have been named National Merit Finalists. These students are David Black, Anna Delale-O’Connor, Benjamin Fiedler, Rayna Huang, Arnim Kuchhal, Zhana Neumann, and Rohit Velankar. They qualified based on their PSAT scores and other academic achievements, with only a small percentage of seniors nationwide reaching this status. The community is invited to participate in the Dorseyville Middle School Foxes on the Run 5K and Kids’ Dash on April 26. Early registration costs $35 for adults and $25 for youth. The event will feature awards and is organized by the DMS Student Council and Health and Wellness Committee to benefit the middle school. Finally, Fox Chapel junior Mira Owens has had her artwork selected for the 2025 National Art Honor Society Exhibition. Her piece, titled "Reminiscence," reflects her dance experience during quarantine and will be displayed online until August 31.
