Naperville police have arrested a man for carrying a gun in the parking lot of Topgolf. This is the fourth such arrest in the area since early February. The latest suspect, Juan Ricardo Gomez, 43, from Griffith, Indiana, was arrested on Tuesday night. Gomez was charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, a class 4 felony. His next court date is set for May 1. Police found a handgun in plain view inside a parked vehicle while they were patrolling the Topgolf lot around 10 p.m. Officers waited for Gomez to return to the car. According to police spokeswoman Kelley Munch, the handgun was loaded and had an extended magazine. Gomez did not have a valid concealed carry license or a Firearm Owner’s Identification card. This recent arrest follows a series of gun-related incidents in the parking lot. Just a month ago, police made three arrests in the same area. The last arrest before Gomez was on March 1, involving Malik Jacorey Gulley, 31, from Chicago, who faced similar charges. Before this year, Naperville police had arrested 25 people for gun-related offenses outside Topgolf between August 2023 and October 2024. Currently, 14 of those cases are still open in court.
