Fox Chapel loses Penguins Cup final in overtime

Fox Chapel's hockey team faced a tough defeat in the Penguins Cup final on Monday night. The game ended in overtime with a score of 5-4 against Cathedral Prep. This loss was especially heartbreaking for Tucker Cullen and senior player Dom Casile, who had hoped to win the school's first Penguins Cup. Cullen, a sophomore, expressed his disappointment after the game. He wanted to help Casile achieve this milestone for their team. Cathedral Prep's Ethan Cunningham scored the winning goal, completing his hat trick with a shot over goalie Grant Watson's shoulder. Fox Chapel had a strong start, taking an early lead thanks to Cullen’s goal just 70 seconds into the game. The team recorded more shots on goal than Cathedral Prep, outshooting them 47-34. Despite this, the Foxes struggled to find the net at times. Casile starred for Fox Chapel, scoring two goals, while Cullen added another. The team led 3-1 at one point but faced a tough fight from Cathedral Prep. The Ramblers came back to tie the game, demonstrating their resilience. They secured the victory with Cunningham's goal in overtime. This win marked Cathedral Prep's fifth Penguins Cup victory. The team showed great teamwork and determination, with players encouraging each other throughout the game. Coach Mark Sprickman praised their fight and spirit, emphasizing their family-like bond.
