FPT becomes first ASEAN firm certified for automotive cybersecurity
HANOI, Vietnam – FPT, a global IT corporation, has achieved the ISO/SAE 21434 certification. This certification is an important standard for cybersecurity in road vehicles. FPT is the first company in ASEAN to receive this certification, highlighting its commitment to high security standards in the automotive sector. The ISO/SAE 21434 standard covers cybersecurity risk management for vehicles throughout their lifecycle. This includes everything from design and manufacturing to maintenance and decommissioning. The certification process was created by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) International. It includes 45 security domains that set specific criteria for vehicle electronics, software, and systems. To earn this certification, FPT invested in training its automotive engineers. The company created 67 process documents to establish a quality management system. This helps manage cybersecurity risks and ensures compliance with the ISO/SAE 21434 requirements. FPT's CEO, Nguyen Duc Kinh, stated that this certification demonstrates their dedication to global standards in automotive cybersecurity. The company plans to continue maintaining these high standards and will conduct annual assessments to adapt to industry changes. With over 20 years in automotive technology, FPT has a team of 4,000 automotive software engineers. In 2023, it launched a subsidiary called FPT Automotive to meet the growing demand for software-defined vehicles. The company has also earned various international certifications, proving its capability in delivering automotive solutions. FPT Corporation is headquartered in Vietnam and operates in technology, telecommunications, and education. The company aims to elevate Vietnam's position in the tech industry and focuses on key areas such as artificial intelligence and digital transformation. In 2024, FPT reported revenues of $2.47 billion and employed over 54,000 people.
