FragPunk loses 60% of players in two weeks
FragPunk, a new hero shooter game, launched on March 6 but is struggling to keep players engaged. After a successful start, where it peaked at over 110,000 players, the game has seen a significant decline. As of March 20, the player count dropped to around 48,000, a decrease of nearly 60% from its earlier peak. The game has faced tough competition from popular titles like Overwatch 2 and Valorant, both of which remain stable with frequent updates. Many players who tried FragPunk have returned to their previous games or stopped playing entirely. This has raised concerns about its long-term appeal. FragPunk's ranking on Steam's Top Selling list has also fallen from its initial spot. It now ranks 55th, down 46 positions, indicating a drop in interest and spending on in-game purchases. While such declines are common for new multiplayer games, the steady drop could worry developers. Currently, the player count is still enough for matches to be found easily. However, it remains uncertain how low the player count might go. Other games have shown a similar pattern, with some rebounding after new content is released. So far, FragPunk is not facing an immediate crisis, but it will need to captivate its audience to avoid further losses.
