Framework Desktop mini PCs sell out rapidly

Framework's Desktop, a small customizable PC, is experiencing high demand, selling out seven times in less than two months. The system is popular for its powerful Ryzen AI Max processors, which provide impressive performance in a compact design. The mini PC competes with products like Apple's Mac Studio but is available at a much lower price. Preorders for the latest batch, Batch 8, are open now, but customers will have to wait until the third quarter of 2025 for shipping. Framework offers two processor options for the Desktop: the Max 385 and the more advanced Max+ 395. The Max 385 has 8 cores and is priced at $1,099, while the Max+ 395 features 16 cores and costs $1,599 for 64GB of RAM. The top option with 128GB is priced at $1,999. CEO Nirav Patel explained the Desktop’s design allows it to run at maximum power quietly. It also features multiple connectivity options, including USB4 and PCIe slots, making it versatile for various uses. The case is made partly from recycled materials and includes customizable front panels, allowing users to personalize their desktops.
