Frank Darabont returns to direct Stranger Things 5 after over a decade away from filmmaking
Frank Darabont, director of The Shawshank Redemption, has come out of retirement to direct parts of Stranger Things Season 5. He cited the show's positive themes as a key reason for his return after more than a decade away from filmmaking. Darabont expressed his love for the series and its heartwarming content, contrasting it with much of today’s media. He remains uncertain about returning to filmmaking more broadly, stating it could be a one-time project. Stranger Things Season 5 is currently in production, with eight episodes planned. The show will continue its storyline involving Vecna, and the upcoming season is expected to have a shorter runtime than Season 4.
