A businessman from Ghatkopar has reported a significant fraud involving a stolen payment. He claims that ₹8.4 lakh, meant for his stationery supplies, was misappropriated by an unknown individual who altered his bank account information. The complainant, Arvind Gada, is 50 years old and resides in Sainath Nagar, Ghatkopar (West). He had been supplying stationery through official government tenders. In August of last year, he submitted bids using an online portal and provided his business bank account details. His company, Dosti Stationery, was awarded contracts by the Ministry of Defence and for a land survey in West Bengal. However, despite fulfilling the supply orders, Gada did not receive any payment. When he followed up, he discovered that payments had been dispatched to a strange bank account number in New Delhi and West Bengal. Upon checking the online portal, Gada found that his business account details had been replaced with an unfamiliar Kotak Mahindra bank account number. It appears that someone had managed to change the payment information, resulting in the theft of ₹8.4 lakh due to Gada. The Ghatkopar police have filed a complaint under various legal sections related to cheating and impersonation. They are now investigating the case to uncover the identity of the fraudster.
