Fred Couples rants after shanking shot in California

Fred Couples, a famous golfer, was caught on a hot mic using strong language after a poor shot during the Hoag Classic 2025. The event took place at Newport Beach Country Club in California, where Couples was playing on the Champions Tour. During the second round, Couples hit his second shot on the 18th hole. He immediately knew it was not good when he saw the ball drift right instead of heading straight toward the green. While watching the ball's poor flight, he was recorded saying, "F*** you, you smart-a** motherf***er." At 65 years old, Couples did not seem bothered by the incident and has not publicly commented on his outburst. He is currently tied for the lead in the tournament with Miguel Angel Jimenez, both players one stroke ahead of Freddie Jacobson. Fred Couples is best known for winning the Masters in 1992 and has attended various Masters events since. His last victory on the Champions Tour was at the 2022 SAS Championship, where he won by six strokes.
