Frisco's Main Street construction impacts local businesses
Construction is underway along Main Street in Frisco, Texas. The city is working on a $70 million project to upgrade the historic downtown area. City officials aim to finish the renovations in time for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The construction affects local businesses. Danny Mehta, co-owner of The Game Show Experience, reports a drop in customers due to the ongoing work. The noise from drills and construction vehicles makes the area less inviting for visitors. City officials are optimistic about the changes. Matt DuBois, the Assistant Director of Engineering Services, explained that multiple projects are happening at once. They aim to wrap up work on the south side of Main Street by next month, then move to the north side. A new parking garage and 4th Street Plaza are also in progress. Businesses hope for better times ahead. Mehta believes that enduring the current difficulties will benefit everyone in the long run. He is hopeful that, after a few more months of construction, the area will thrive.
