A man wanted for murder and kidnapping has been arrested after 23 years of living in hiding. Mohammed Tarvez Mohammed Idris Ansari, 52, is accused of killing his sister-in-law, Shabana Parveen, and kidnapping her infant son. He had been living in Dombivli, Maharashtra, under a false name. The crime happened on June 6, 2002. Ansari and his brother's second wife, Afreen Bano, allegedly killed Shabana by slitting her throat. They then took her five-month-old son. The police had registered a case against them for murder and kidnapping. Recently, the Virar police received a tip-off about Ansari's location. A team, led by assistant police inspector Datta Sarak, raided his rented home on Monday and arrested him. Authorities are now questioning Ansari to find out where Shabana's son is. During questioning, Ansari admitted he fled to Lucknow after the crime and stayed there for three years. He then moved back to Mumbai, where he obtained new identity documents and lived a normal life. Investigators believe Ansari had a strong dislike for his brother's first wife, and he pressured his brother to marry Afreen. Together, they plotted to kill Shabana.
