In Mangaluru, social worker Fayaz Madoor and his team successfully raised Rs 75 lakh in just ten days. The funds will help Prashanth Rai, a 41-year-old Hindi teacher suffering from blood cancer, receive CAR T-cell therapy, a costly and advanced treatment. The online fundraiser was launched to support Prashanth, who works at Mundithadka school in Kasaragod. Fayaz expressed gratitude for the community's overwhelming support. "This Ramadan brought a special sense of fulfillment," he said. People from various backgrounds contributed to the cause. Notably, Abdul Azeez, a local bus owner, collected Rs 63,250 from the public, including his entire day's earnings. The local autorickshaw drivers’ association also made important donations. Fayaz mentioned they faced some initial challenges, including technical issues with the bank account, but the momentum never stopped. He added that Prashanth's family was hesitant to ask for help at first, as they were managing well. However, when their situation became urgent, they turned to Fayaz's team. At the time of the fundraiser, Fayaz and his team were also working on another campaign for a family in Belthangady. He emphasized the community's amazing response, calling it one of the largest fundraising efforts in Kasaragod. A decision will soon be made on whether Prashanth will receive his treatment in Bengaluru as planned or consider options in Delhi.
