FY25 sees record equity selloff by foreign investors

m.economictimes.com

Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) have sold Rs 1.5 lakh crore in equities during FY25, marking the worst annual selloff in rupee terms. This surpasses the previous record of Rs 1.4 lakh crore in FY22. In March, FPIs sold Rs 30,015 crore in the first two weeks, continuing a trend of sustained outflows since October. They have been net sellers in the secondary market for nine consecutive trading sessions. Despite the FPI selloff, domestic funds invested a record Rs 4.7 lakh crore in FY25, driven by strong retail participation. Local funds have consistently invested over Rs 1 lakh crore annually for the past four years.
