Gadvasu announces progressive farmers for CM Awards in Ludhiana

Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, known as Gadvasu, will honor four innovative livestock farmers at the Chief Minister Awards on March 21. The ceremony will take place during the Pashu Palan Mela in Ludhiana. Dr. Ravinder Singh Grewal, the director of extension education at Gadvasu, mentioned that the university is focused on improving the livestock sector in the state. A team of experts evaluated farmers who entered the competition to determine the winners based on their overall farming systems. In the buffalo category, Gurlal Singh from Kararwala village in Bathinda will be recognized. He has 60 buffaloes, with 25 currently producing 235 liters of milk daily. Baldev Singh Sandhu from Manuke Sandhu village in Ludhiana will receive an award for goat farming. He started his goat farming business after finishing college in 2021. Two farmers will be awarded in the fish farming category. Amiteshwar Singh Gill from Moga has been active in this field for three years, producing seven tonnes of fish each year. The second winner is Parminderjit Singh from Kapurthala, who uses modern techniques in his fish farming after starting three years ago. In pig farming, Harinderpal Singh from Fatehgarh Sahib, who began in 2016, will be honored. He currently raises 1,200 pigs, including 120 sows. Surinderpal Singh from Wazidpur village in Ferozepur district will also receive an award in this category. The awards will include a plaque, a shawl, a citation, and a cash prize for the winners.
