A female cheetah named Gamini and her four cubs will be released into Kuno National Park in Madhya Pradesh on March 17, 2025. This will increase the wild cheetah population in the park to 17. Gamini, originally from South Africa, will be released in the Khajuri tourism zone. Nine cheetahs will remain in enclosures after this release. This initiative is part of India's cheetah conservation project, which began with the translocation of cheetahs from Namibia in 2022. The total number of cheetahs in KNP now stands at 26, including 14 cubs born in India.
