Gang member arrested for attacking elderly man in Harlem
A member of the "Billy Bad Ass" gang was arrested for attacking a 70-year-old man on a subway train in New York City. The incident occurred on Sunday night around 11:30 p.m. as the victim was riding a southbound A train near the 145th Street station in Harlem. Police reported that two men approached the elderly victim and one of them punched him in the face without any provocation. The attackers were strangers to the victim. A bystander helped police by identifying one of the suspects, who was taken into custody at the scene. The arrested man is 27 years old and on parole. He has a history of crime, with 14 prior arrests, including for gun-related offenses. He is linked to the "Billy Bad Ass" gang, which is part of the Nine Trey Gangsters. The second suspect managed to escape. The victim suffered cuts to his nose, eye, and forehead but received treatment at the scene. This attack is part of a concerning trend in the subway system, where 119 felony assaults have been reported so far this year. While this number is slightly lower than last year, misdemeanor assaults have increased.
