Gang member arrested for murdering two American women
A member of the Tren de Aragua gang, Ricardo Gonzales, has been arrested in Georgia for allegedly murdering two American women in Illinois. The 32-year-old was captured last week during a coordinated operation involving several law enforcement agencies, including the U.S. Marshals Service and ICE. Gonzales is accused of kidnapping three women and shooting them in an alley in Chicago on January 28. Two of the women died from their injuries, while one managed to call for help. He now faces charges of first-degree murder and attempted murder. He was already wanted on an arrest warrant and was booked into Cobb County Jail as he awaits extradition to Chicago. Along with Gonzales, five other suspects were also taken into custody during the operation. The arrest coincided with the U.S. resuming deportation flights to Venezuela, following a deal between the Trump administration and Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro. This agreement has led to the deportation of around 350 Venezuelan migrants, including members of Tren de Aragua, in recent weeks. The Secretary of State emphasized that Venezuela must accept its citizens being returned from the U.S.
