Gang members arrested for blackmailing popular singer in Seoul

The Seoul Gangnam Police have arrested two men linked to a gang for trying to blackmail a famous singer. The arrests happened on March 17 after the men attempted to extort money from the artist. Reports say the two men found an old mobile phone belonging to the singer. They discovered private photos on it and decided to use these images to demand ₩500 million KRW (around $343,000 USD) from the singer. Upon learning of the blackmail attempt, the singer's agency promptly contacted the police. The police acted quickly and managed to apprehend the suspects within a week. They were arrested in Yangpyeong, Gyeonggi Province. Investigations revealed that the two men have past criminal records and are associated with a notorious gang. A third person, believed to be an accomplice, is still on the run. The police are actively searching for this individual. Authorities have stated they will take strong action against blackmail, especially involving celebrities, and have encouraged the third suspect to surrender to avoid more serious consequences.
