Garrick leads Manly to victory over Canberra

Manly Sea Eagles defeated the Canberra Raiders 40-12 in a strong performance at Brookvale Oval on Sunday night. Reuben Garrick was the standout player, scoring four tries and successfully kicking six conversions. His total of 28 points puts him at the top of the NRL’s scoring list after three games. Garrick is now just two points away from the club record for most points in a single game. The Raiders began the match well but lost momentum after a key player, Corey Horsburgh, was sent to the sin-bin for a foul. This moment shifted the game in Manly's favor, as they quickly scored points. Just before Horsburgh's return, Manly had built a commanding 24-0 lead. Garrick scored the first try shortly after Horsburgh's penalty, and two additional tries followed due to mistakes by Canberra's fullback, Kaeo Weekes. Manly continued to dominate, ending the first half with a substantial 30-0 advantage. In the second half, Garrick scored his hat-trick and another try shortly after. Canberra struggled to respond, only managing to score their first points after 63 minutes. Despite the loss, they managed a couple of late tries. The match had a concerning moment for fans when Manly’s prop, Taniela Paseka, was assisted off the field due to an apparent ankle injury. The game drew a crowd of 16,125 spectators.
