Chennai's Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) has set aside funds to improve care for pets in the city. They have allocated Rs 25 lakh for a 24-hour emergency trauma care centre for injured pets. In past efforts, about 68,000 dogs were vaccinated, and the goal is to vaccinate at least 1,000 dogs each day. Furthermore, Rs 15 lakh has been allocated to create pet clinics near animal birth control centres in areas like Thiruvottiyur, Manali, and Adyar. Dr. Kamal Hussain, the veterinary officer, mentioned that campaigns will help raise awareness about the vaccination drives across different zones.
