GCC urged to visit Jordan's UNESCO sites
Jordan is inviting citizens and residents of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) to discover its unique and historic treasures. The country boasts seven UNESCO World Heritage Sites that showcase its rich history, culture, and stunning landscapes. The Jordan Tourism Board encourages visitors to explore these iconic sites. Among them is Petra, an ancient city carved into red sandstone cliffs. Wadi Rum is another highlight, known for its breathtaking desert landscape. These sites offer insights into a fascinating past and showcase Jordan’s natural beauty. Dr. Abdelrazzak Arabiya, Managing Director of the Jordan Tourism Board, emphasized the importance of these heritage sites. He noted that they reflect the diverse influences that have shaped Jordan throughout history. Each site provides a unique experience, allowing visitors to connect with both history and nature. Some notable sites include As-Salt, an old trading hub with beautiful Ottoman architecture; Quseir Amra, an 8th-century fortress with rare frescoes; and the Baptism Site along the Jordan River, rich in religious significance. These locations not only tell the story of the region but also contribute to global history. Jordan aims to make visits enjoyable with modern facilities, including luxury hotels and traditional food.
