Gemini Live adopts compact interface for upcoming Astra

Gemini Live is getting a new, more compact design on Android just before the launch of Astra, which will offer video and screen sharing. The update changes the large circular buttons for "Hold" and "End" into smaller pill shapes. These buttons are currently centered but will shift to the right when Astra's icons are added. Google has also removed text labels from the buttons. This creates additional space at the top of the interface for features like "Talk Live with" and the Astra video feed. Users can see this updated design in Google app beta version 16.10 on Android. However, there is no information yet about the iPhone version of Gemini Live. In other news, Google announced that Deep Research is now fully available on mobile devices. It has also doubled the monthly reports offered to Gemini users for free, although specific numbers were not disclosed. Additionally, Google has launched the new 2.0 Flash Thinking model, which promises improved efficiency and speed. This version includes access to apps and file upload features. Users can expect more personalization options as well, although not all users have access to the free Gems feature on all platforms.
