Gene reunites for first live show in 20 years
The band Gene is reuniting for their first live show in over 20 years. The concert will take place at the Eventim Apollo in London on October 4, to celebrate the 30th anniversary of their debut album, "Olympian." This will be their first performance since 2004. Frontman Martin Rossiter shared that Alan McGee, the band's former record label founder, convinced them to reform. He described McGee as persuasive and instrumental in getting the band back together. Rossiter noted that their rehearsal went surprisingly well, and the group's dynamics felt unchanged despite the years apart. Rossiter reflected on their past and the challenges of performing again after so long. He expressed his excitement, saying they are aiming for a "spectacular" show. The band plans to perform a mix of their songs, potentially playing around 25 out of a shortlist of 30. He hinted that they might have some warm-up shows before the London gig and left the door open for more performances in the future. Overall, Rossiter seemed optimistic about the reunion and the band's chemistry.
