Georgia man sentenced to 70 years for attacking ex-wife after posing as hero

A Georgia man, Rod Metzer, has been sentenced to 70 years in prison after evidence revealed he attacked his ex-wife, Morgan Metzer, on New Year's Day 2021. Initially, he appeared to be a hero, calling 911 after finding her bound and injured. Investigators discovered zip ties matching those used on Morgan in Rod's apartment, along with incriminating internet searches and a fake cancer diagnosis he created to manipulate her. Surveillance footage confirmed he purchased the zip ties shortly before the attack. Rod Metzer pleaded guilty to 14 counts related to the attack and privacy violations. Morgan Metzer is now focused on helping other women in similar situations and raising her children.
