German politician seeks agriculture and solar ties with India
Parmod Kumar, a politician of Indian origin in Germany, is working to strengthen connections between India and Germany. He is focusing on agriculture, solar energy, and information technology. Currently, Kumar is in Punjab, where he aims to enhance farming techniques using German technology. Kumar, originally from Amritsar, highlighted that Punjab is crucial to India's food supply, mainly for crops like wheat and rice. However, he pointed out challenges such as water scarcity and outdated farming methods. He believes that German precision farming techniques could help improve water management and crop yields while reducing environmental harm. As a member of Germany's Christian Democratic Union (CDU), Kumar is actively engaging with political leaders in Punjab and Karnataka. He discussed potential collaborations that could benefit both regions. He also emphasized the need to improve the student visa process to ensure that those applying for educational opportunities in Germany follow the correct procedures. In Karnataka, Kumar had discussions with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and other officials about expanding trade and cultural ties. They explored the possibility of importing high-quality coffee beans from Karnataka to Germany to promote local products overseas. Additionally, they talked about sharing football coaching techniques and equipment to boost sports development and strengthen collaboration between the regions.
