Giancarlo Esposito played Sidewinder in Captain America sequel

Giancarlo Esposito, known for his role in "Breaking Bad," was initially offered the part of King Cobra in "Captain America: Brave New World." However, he ended up playing a different character named Sidewinder. In a recent interview, Esposito shared that the film’s producer, Nate Moore, suggested the change to better fit the story’s direction. Esposito reflected on the excitement of being linked to King Cobra, a character who has faced off against many superheroes in the comics. King Cobra, whose real name is Klaus Voorhees, becomes a villain after a disaster during a murder plot. The filmmakers decided that Esposito's character should instead be Sidewinder, a professor turned crime boss due to a mutation from the Roxxon Oil Company. The production team worked to create a realistic character for the film. Esposito mentioned that the reshoots focused on developing Sidewinder more deeply. He expressed enthusiasm about his role and hopes to continue appearing in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Despite the hype surrounding the film, "Captain America: Brave New World" received mixed reviews and had a disappointing box office performance.
