Giancarlo Esposito will play Sidewinder, not King Cobra

Giancarlo Esposito confirmed he was originally set to play King Cobra in Marvel's "Captain America: Brave New World." The actor spoke about this in an interview with Collider. Esposito explained that the movie's producers wanted to ground the film during reshoots. Instead of King Cobra, they decided to have him portray Sidewinder. Producer Nate Moore said they were looking to create a more realistic character, which led to the change. In the comics, King Cobra, whose real name is Klaus Voorhees, is an ex-convict bitten by a radioactive snake. He has faced off against several superheroes, including Thor and Captain America. Esposito shared how much he appreciated being called "King" by fans in his neighborhood. Sidewinder, played by Esposito, is a character transformed into a crime boss after a chemical accident. He has the ability to teleport in the comics, though this power is not included in the film. Esposito expressed hope for a longer stay in the Marvel universe with Sidewinder's character. "Captain America: Brave New World" is currently in theaters.
