Giant sinkhole disrupts traffic on I-80 in Morris County, New Jersey
A large sinkhole has formed on the eastbound side of Interstate 80 in Morris County, New Jersey, causing major traffic delays. The sinkhole appeared around 7:30 a.m. on December 26, affecting the shoulder and right lane near exit 34. New Jersey transit officials have set up a detour through Wharton, with travel times increasing to 80-90 minutes for a 5-mile stretch. There is currently no timeline for repairs, and the detour will remain in place until further notice. Westbound traffic on I-80 is unaffected. Other areas, including Newark Liberty International Airport, are experiencing delays due to holiday travel, while traffic in most regions is normal.
