A woman from Gilbert has been arrested for sending threatening letters to a couple. The letters contained personal details about their lives and warned them to leave their home. The couple contacted the police after receiving the first letter on March 10. In one part of the letter, the sender wrote about the couple’s upcoming baby, saying they were watching the wife and hinted at harm if they did not move. The couple, who had no idea who sent the letters, received a second one on March 18, which included the word “Redrum” repeated many times. This word is known for its connection to murder in popular culture. The couple had been at the hospital for their baby's delivery when they returned home to find the second letter. Investigators found that both letters were mailed from a nearby post office. Using surveillance footage, they identified Shelby Trischler, a 33-year-old woman who had been close friends with the female victim for years. The victim had cut ties with Trischler after an uncomfortable conversation about their new home. She had not spoken to Trischler until after sending a picture of her baby, which Trischler seemed to know too much about. Police arrested Trischler after matching a fingerprint from the letter to her. She faces multiple charges, including stalking and making threats. Trischler is currently being held with a bail of $50,000 and will appear in court on March 27.
