Girlfriend charged for tossing drugs into Mass. jail
A woman in Massachusetts has been charged after she allegedly threw drugs over the wall of a jail for her boyfriend. The incidents occurred at the Ash Street Jail in New Bedford over the past week. Officials discovered the drugs when staff found packages in the jail yard. One package contained 15 Suboxone strips, and another had 69 strips along with 15 grams of crack cocaine. The authorities quickly identified the inmate who was meant to receive the drugs. The Bristol County Sheriff's Office pointed to Brittany Hanley as the inmate's girlfriend. She was reportedly on a recorded call with her boyfriend, discussing where to throw the drugs. Investigators observed her driving around the jail in a rented vehicle. After stopping Hanley's car, police found 40 Suboxone strips and substances suspected to be fentanyl. She was arrested and is charged with drug possession and conspiracy. Hanley is expected in court on Wednesday. The inmate linked to the situation will face disciplinary action.
