Girls make up 60% of WAVES-2025 finalists
The WAVES-2025 Young Filmmakers Challenge received over 1,000 entries from nearly 80 cities in India. Close to 60% of the finalists are female, highlighting a rise in female storytellers in the film industry. Participants, aged 12-19, created 60-second films on humanity and technology. The top entries attended a workshop in Mumbai with filmmaker Amole Gupte, where they received feedback to improve their films for the final selection in May. Entries showcased diverse perspectives on technology's impact on life, with some focusing on its benefits. Notably, a film by a female student addressed the significance of a mobile app for her family’s livelihood.
