"Girls Will Be Girls" wins best film award
Ali Fazal and Richa Chadha's film "Girls Will Be Girls" has won the best film jury award at the News18 Showsha Reel Awards. This success comes as the couple makes their debut as film producers through their company, Pushing Buttons Studios. The movie tells a powerful story set in a boarding school located in a small Himalayan town in North India. It stars newcomers Preeti Panigrahi and Kesav Binoy Kiron, along with actress Kani Kusruti. Ali Fazal expressed gratitude to the jury after winning the award, stating that receiving recognition makes artists happy and highlights the importance of storytelling in challenging times. Richa shared details about their first production, noting that the film has received multiple awards at international festivals, including Sundance and TIFF. It has also won four awards at the Mumbai Film Festival (MAMI). The couple is excited to bring the film to Indian audiences. In personal news, Richa and Ali welcomed their daughter, Zuneyra Ida Fazal, last July. Richa mentioned that they are currently adjusting their lives around their baby, who is now about 4-5 months old. In terms of upcoming projects, Richa was last seen in the web series "Heeramandi," while Ali is set to appear in Anurag Basu's upcoming film "Metro...In Dino." The release date for Ali's film has not yet been announced.
