GITAM Law College wins national moot court competition
Students from GITAM Law College have won a national moot court competition held in Visakhapatnam. The event was organized by Dr. B.R. Ambedkar College of Law at Andhra University. KLU law students finished as runners-up. The judges from the Andhra Pradesh High Court, Justice Ravi Cheemalapati and Justice P. Venkata Jyotirmayi, awarded prizes. GITAM received ₹20,000, while KLU got ₹10,000, along with certificates for their achievements. Justice Ravi emphasized the importance of knowledge in law and understanding current issues affecting the judiciary. He noted that moot court competitions help law students improve their skills. Justice Jyotirmayi encouraged participants to deepen their knowledge of cyber laws and technology's role in the legal system. Prof. K. Sitamanikyam mentioned that students from 24 institutions participated in the competition. The event had retired judges and senior lawyers judging earlier rounds, with High Court judges overseeing the finals. The goal was to develop essential skills for future legal professionals. The university's Rector, N. Kishore Babu, praised the students and organizers. L.V.K. Prasad, the event coordinator, shared insights about the three-day program. Awards were also given for best speaker, research, and memorial, recognizing participants from other colleges.
