GMDA demolishes illegal encroachments in Gurugram
The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) took action on Tuesday against illegal shops in the furniture market near Sikandarpur metro station. They demolished three building material shops operating without permission. RS Batth, the district town planner for GMDA, stated that the enforcement team had previously visited the area around MG road and Sikandarpur metro station. They warned shop owners to leave government land and green spaces. Some vendors followed the warnings, but a few ignored them. Batth emphasized that GMDA will not tolerate encroachments on public spaces. He said they are first raising awareness about violations. If shop owners fail to comply, the GMDA will take necessary actions. Additionally, the department of town and country planning conducted demolition drives in unauthorized colonies. In Badshahpur, two colonies covering 4.5 acres were demolished. Further, two illegal colonies in Darbaripur and another in Tikri village were also removed. These actions were taken because the colonies were being developed without proper authorization.
