Goa HC mandates geo-mapping to combat illegal constructions
The Goa High Court has ordered the state government to complete geo-mapping within a year to track illegal constructions. This decision follows multiple petitions highlighting government inaction on the issue. The court criticized the state for allowing illegal constructions to proliferate, including on paddy fields and in no development zones. It emphasized the need for strict enforcement of existing laws to protect Goa's environment. Additionally, the court instructed local officials to inspect and report illegal constructions in their areas. This includes actions against illegal buildings on roadsides, government land, and agricultural properties.
