Goa increases financial aid for retired athletes
Goa's sports minister, Govind Gaude, announced plans to increase financial support for retired athletes living in need. He made this promise during an event for veteran sportspeople in Sinquetim. The event was organized by the Association for the Wellbeing of Elder Sportspersons (AWES). Gaude mentioned that he received a request from Armando Colaco, a Dronacharya Award winner, to raise the assistance funds. He assured everyone that the increase will take effect in the next financial year, 2025-2026. The annual get-together celebrated Goa's sporting legends. Many former athletes attended, sharing memories and honoring each other.
