Goa's new transport app improves payment and applications

The Transport Department in Goa is creating a new mobile app, set to launch by the end of this year. This app will help residents access various transport services easily. It aims to make processes faster and more convenient for users. The app will provide information on learner's licenses, vehicle registration, and taxes. Users will also be able to check their vehicle insurance and Pollution Under Control (PUC) certificates by entering their details. Officials say all Regional Transport Offices (RTOs) will be linked to this app, making services accessible across Goa. This initiative follows the launch of the Goa Transport App in June 2020, which had limited success with only about 10,000 downloads. The new app will allow users to fill out forms directly, improving the user experience. The app is especially aimed at younger people who are more likely to use smartphones. Users will be able to book driving tests, pay fees, and register vehicles through the app. It will also send reminders for renewing vehicle insurance, PUC, and fitness certificates. In the future, the Transport Department plans to add more features to the app. This could include announcements and other important information, which are currently shared through newspapers or official gazettes.
