"Godfather of Harlem" Season 4 premieres at Sarasota Festival
The fourth season of "Godfather of Harlem" will premiere with its first two episodes at the 27th annual Sarasota Film Festival. The event will take place starting April 4 in Sarasota, Florida. Series co-creator Chris Brancato will receive the Innovation in Television Award, while actor Rome Flynn will be honored with the SFF Rising Star Award. The festival will feature various live screenings and events throughout its 10-day run. It will showcase a diverse lineup of films, including 20 documentary features, 17 narrative features, and 41 short films. The festival will open with "Marcella," a documentary about culinary icon Marcella Hazan, and close with "Lovers," directed by Taylor McFadden. Notable documentaries from Sundance 2025 will also be presented at the festival. These include "Andre Is an Idiot" and "Marlee Matlin: Not Alone Anymore." The festival's chairman, Mark Famiglio, expressed excitement about the films featured this year and highlighted Florida's growing reputation as a film production destination. The program will also include spotlight presentations. These feature films like "Anxiety Club," which humorously explores anxiety through comedians' perspectives, and "Beyond the Gaze: Jule Campbell’s Swimsuit Issue," which looks at the career of the groundbreaking editor. The narrative feature competition will highlight several films, including "Color Book" and "The Summer Book." The documentary feature competition will showcase a range of films, covering topics from activism to personal stories. Tickets for the festival will go on sale starting March 21, and all Oscar-nominated animated short films from 2024 will be screened during the second weekend of the festival.
